In 1999 Maribel starred as Paula Rosales on the TV series Ellas son asi. Verdu is best known to English speaking audiences for starring in Y tu mama tambien in 2001 and in Pan’s Labyrinth in 2006. Her Spanish language film highlights include Lovers, Belle Epoque, Blancanieves, and The Blind Sunflowers. She has won a Silver Ariel Award, two Cinema Writers Circle Awards, three Fotogramas de Plata Awards, two Goya Awards, an MTV Movie Award, a Premios ACE Award, and a Spanish Actors Union Award. Maribel married Pedro Larranaga in 1989.
