Some seven years later, Farris and Dan detected the need of branching out into other areas beyond the field of masonry, such as the hydraulic fracturing and oil field service industry. It was for this reason that they founded a second company called Frac Tech. After that, in 2011, they sold their combined interest of almost 70% at Frac Tech (which had sense evolved into FTS International Services, LLC) to a partnership lead by Temasek Holdings of Singapore for a reported total sum of $3.5 billion. Since, they have been shedding the money by buying ranches across the west. In 2011, the sibling duo bought Tom Siebel’s 62,000-acre N Bar Ranch in Montana for $45 million, as well as they acquired almost 300,000 acres in Montana and 36,000 acres in Idaho.
